I created TraumAnon for a reason. After undergoing my own trauma therapy, I discovered I needed something more. Something extra to support me after therapy. Trauma leaves us feeling alone. Alone in our pain. Alone in our sadness. Alone to figure a way out. It is the feeling of being alone that has the greatest impact on our ability to function and, more importantly, to overcome our past.
TraumAnon is the answer to that need. In this group, we find others who understand our despair. Although our stories vary, our feelings, thoughts and realities are often exactly the same. In our group, we find companionship, sister/brotherhood, encouragement, and support often for the first time in our lives. We learn to trust again, by the fellowship this group offers.
Our group is sacred. Aggressiveness and harshness are simply not acceptable in these rooms and in our posts. Whether intentional or not, we must speak to each other with kindness and dignity, disallowing hurtfulness. As we grow, please keep this in mind. Respond to each other. Be attentive. Treat others as you would be treated and use this space to heal.
Much love,
Shawn

TraumAnon is a group of individuals who identify as being affected by trauma who meet on a regular basis. We are a peer-led private support group for individuals who have experienced trauma. We offer group meetings and 12 Step meetings in the Atlanta Metro area.
Change lives one day at a time by empowering individuals to overcome their hurts and their trauma. Reconnecting individuals to their strength, voice, and self-worth by living in their own truth. By learning to trust themselves, and others, and by finding purpose in their pain.
